Ronit Ricci is Associate Professor at the departments of Asian Studies and Comparative Religion at the Hebrew University. She studied and worked in the U.S, Indonesia, India, Singapore and Australia before returning to Israel in 2013. Her research examines contacts, connections, and the transmission of Islamic literature between South and Southeast Asia, looking in particular at south India, Sri Lanka, and Indonesia. She studies Javanese and Malay manuscript cultures, histories of exile in colonial Asia, and translation theories and practices. At the Hebrew University she teaches beginning and advanced Indonesian, and courses on Indonesian history and culture, Islam in Southeast Asia, and religion and translation.
